Newsletter | COVID-19 Health & Safety Updates - 1st June 2020

Hi Everyone, Pringle PCS hopes you are all keeping safe & well! We have received an update today from one of our Professional Awarding Body, NUCO, with regards to commencement of First Aid Training courses from the 15th June!

We have received important updated information from the First Aid Quality Partnership, the HSE and the First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum with regards to the return of non-essential classroom training and the introduction of blended learning for first aid. The main change is allowing us to begin non-essential training on the 15th June.
We are extending this decision to cover the start of all non-essential training for all FAA qualifications from this date. As part of the Government's plan to ease lockdown, it is allowing unessential shops to open in England on the 15th June, so we will follow suit and allow non-essential training from the 15th June for England only - as long as all Government restrictions and the strict classroom requirements/guidelines are followed. If you have a requirement to train essential key workers before this time, then you are of course able to do so, as long as the strict hygiene measures are followed.

Delivery and Assessment of First Aid Guidance:
We laid out measures that need to be followed for the return to classroom training. The change to the guidance is with respect to the assessment of the recovery position and bandaging. The change requires these to be assessed on a live casualty, if PPE is available, and if the learners are willing. If PPE is not available due to shortages, or the learners are not willing, then we will accept them demonstrating on themselves and verbally confirming each step to the trainer/assessor.
Teaching COVID-19 First Aid Protocols:
When delivering 'regular' first aid protocols, you should also teach COVID-19 protocols to your learners. This explains how they should respond, should they have to deal with a casualty who is suspected of having COVID-19. The Resuscitation Council have created protocols for first aiders, which you should adopt and teach alongside 'regular' protocols:
Risk Assessment of Venues:
PTrainers will also need to risk assess their venues before starting the course, ensuring they are able to meet these requirements and should be looking at areas such as: • Access to the toilets
• Limiting numbers depending on access routes, the size of the training room and the effect on maximum number of learners
• Learner arrival at the venue to ensure social distancing is maintained
• Movement around the venue and building has been considered and suitable measures taken
Pringle PCS will be following all the strict guidelines when we eventually get back to delivering our courses. All PPE will be provided to our delegates and regular handwashing will be a must, as well as the use of hand sanitiser throughout the duration of the course.
